Recently, I decided to create a multiplayer map within the Forge of Halo Infinite as a way to not only better understand the tools that Halo Studios provided to players but also to demonstrate my growth and understanding of 3D level design.

For a project in a previous class, we were asked to take an already existing combat template in Unity and implement a high-quality aesthetic to the project to best demonstrate our understanding of combat feel. What I came up with was a black-and-white world with shades of red where the player uses a lead pipe and revolver to beat the enemies.

When conceptualizing what I wanted to do for this project, my mind immediately jumped to the visual style of the Sin City comics, which have a black-and-white color palette with hints of red in it, while the overall feel of the combat I was aiming for was similar to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in terms of the melee combat. We did also have to implement a special weapon, which I looked to Splatoon for inspiration while making sure it stayed relatively realistic for the time period this project was set in, and that's what resulted in a retro sci-fi set of lasers to use.

The reason I picked this project to show off is that I wanted to show that I am capable of working on projects with varying art styles and in different engines, while also showing that I am also capable of refining and changing an existing system to make it engross the player even more than it already does.

When I look back on this project, I do feel that despite some shortcomings initially, I am proud of the work that I put into this project and feel that showing where I got my start in this area of expertise is something worth presenting. This is also when I started really focusing on making sure my work was documented for people to see what was going through my head when working on this project, as well as how I was able to address feedback given to me by testers.
